Residents have taken to heart the slower pace of life in the Heartland community in Cochrane, says Morgan Gowland, development coordinator at Apex Land.

“A lot of people fall in love with the charm of the community and enjoy the laid-back lifestyle that small-town living offers. So, when they discover everything that the area has to offer, I think residents find Heartland serves as the perfect home base,” says Gowland. “Whether that means driving into downtown Cochrane to enjoy boutique shops and locally roasted coffee or heading out to explore the nearby foothills, Heartland’s location just off Highways 22 and 1A makes enjoying life easy. Plus, a 15-minute commute to northwest Calgary is closer than most people realize.”

The builder group includes Pacesetter by Sterling Homes, Excel Homes, Rohit Communities and Birchwood Properties, with product ranging from front-drive garage single-family homes, duplexes, street towns with no condo fees and townhomes in a pet-friendly project.

A new commercial area is scheduled to open this year, with tenants including a Petro-Canada gas station, Tim Hortons, Star Liquor, Fire and Flower Cannabis, Mr. Mozzarella and more, says Gowland, adding current lot incentives make buying a home in Heartland even more affordable.

“Plus, every front-drive garage single-family home receives a free tree for the front yard and the community’s boulevards are extra-wide and extensively landscaped,” she says. “Heartland is a very friendly community — family-friendly, dog-friendly and neighbour-friendly. It’s not uncommon to see people stopping to chat while out walking the dog, or kids playing together at one of the community’s two parks.

“Having spaces to gather and interact outside gives people the chance to connect, with nature and neighbours, bringing everyone closer together. It’s an important piece of the community’s design and we’re thrilled to see residents enjoying these features. The residents themselves have even formed a community association to make sure they have the opportunity to stay connected with one another and have an impact on the place they call home.”

Cochrane’s location puts it in close proximity to Ghost Lake and Big Hill Springs Provincial Park, and a drive to Kananaskis Country and Canmore can be a half-hour shorter than from Calgary.

“We encourage people who haven’t considered Cochrane to come explore the community and speak to the area managers here about the advantages of buying in Heartland,” says Gowland. “We often get so price-focused, we forget value can also mean more square feet, a larger yard, a bigger garage, a better location. For Heartland, the list goes on.”
