Kinkora Regional High School
The 2020 graduating class of Kinkora Regional High School held a pancake breakfast on Feb. 16.
UPEI student Catherine Biollo is at KRHS to complete her student teaching practicum.
On Feb. 26, KRHS students will be participating in Pink Shirt Day at the school. This event allows students to promote awareness, understanding and openness about the problem of bullying and to commit to standing up against bullying.
The school appreciates the efforts of students and parents who provided delicious treats, a tasty meal and kind gestures during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.
Looking ahead, March 6 is a school goals day with no classes, on March 10 there will be a parent council meeting at 6 p.m. and March 16-20 is March break.
The Liberation of the Netherlands 75 trip takes place April 28 to May 7 and commemorates the 75th anniversary since the end of the Second World War in Europe. Students will be visiting France, Belgium and the Netherlands. They are selling 50/50 tickets every Tuesday evening at the Kinkora Bingo and every Thursday evening at the Borden-Carleton Bingo.
Montague Regional High School
Welcome to teachers Brynn Van Wiechen (science 701) and Max Maund (PED401B).
Last week, the school began piloting a new menu and approach to cafeteria food. The focus will be on freshly made, locally sourced (as much as possible) food with a hot daily special or a cold choice (salad, sub or wrap) for $5. Check out the new menu on the school website.
There is a Parent Council meeting today at 5:30 p.m.
Feb. 28 is joint staff day with no classes.
Colonel Gray High School
Welcome to Erica Gilligan (itinerant EAL teacher).
A representative from UPEI will be at Colonel Gray during the morning of Feb. 5. Grade 12 students may sign up for individual appointment times in student Services. This is a great opportunity to have questions answered on UPEI scholarships and awards, which are due March 1.
University of New Brunswick will be visiting student services at lunch on Feb. 25. Plan to wear pink on Feb. 26 to be part of Pink Shirt Day, symbolizing a non-tolerance to bullying in schools, workplaces, homes or over the internet.
There will be no classes on Feb. 28, due to the professional learning day.
Charlottetown Rural
On Feb. 25, UPEI will be at the school at 2 p.m. to present to students about scholarships.
Any students who are interested in attending, must sign up in student services.
