Donald Trump took a swipe at Justin Trudeau after discovering his cameo was cut from CBC’s rebroadcast of the film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York over the Christmas holidays.

The U.S. president joked about the TV edit on Twitter. In one tweet, he said: “ The movie will never be the same! (just kidding).”

In another, he suggested the cut was made because the prime minister was bitter about NATO: “I guess Justin T(rudeau) doesn’t much like my making him pay up on NATO or Trade!”

The scene in question is one where Trump gives Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister directions.

The scene’s removal struck a nerve with some people, especially at Fox News. On Fox & Friends Thursday, host Ed Henry suggested it was motivated by “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” while U.S. conservative commentator Katie Pavlich called it “censorship.”

Meanwhile, Mark Steyn suggested the cut was made because the left is worried people will remember Trump was “beloved” by the mainstream before becoming president.

He said: “I think they’re actually terrified that people will remember that before he was the ‘new Hitler,’ he was a beloved mainstream cultural figure … I think they’re terrified of these little things that will remind people just how deranged his opponents are.”

Another supporter, Ryan Fournier, who is the co-founder of Trump for Students, wrote on Twitter: “ CBC TV in Canada has cut Donald Trump’s Home Alone 2 cameo out of their broadcast. They’re so triggered by him that they had to edit him out of the film. Absolutely pathetic.

Later in the day, CBC said the edit was not politically motivated and that the seven-second scene was part of a total of eight minutes that was removed from the film to make room for commercials. It added the cuts were made in 2014, well before Trump became president.

Trump announced his candidacy in June 16, 2015 and was elected president on Nov. 8, 2016.

But not everyone was offended by the clip’s removal. As one person tweeted on Christmas Eve:

“Just watched Home Alone 2: Lost in New York recorded of @CBC and they edited out the @realDonaldTrump scene. God bless us EVERYONE!”
