CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Music P.E.I. will be hosting a special songwriting masterclass with celebrated singer-songwriter David Francey on Jan. 30 at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall, 140 Weymouth St, Charlottetown.
This is a chance to learn directly from the man himself. The intimate evening workshop will cover topics on technique, inspiration, lyrics, melody, harmony and writing from outside one’s own experience.
This will be his second time hosting a songwriter workshop for Music P.E.I. The first resulted in his discovery of Ashley Condon and producing her 2013 album, “The Great Compromise”.
The masterclass is free for Music P.E.I. members and students of the Holland College School of Performing Arts. Admission is at the door for non-members. Register in advance. Contact Steve Love at Music P.E.I., 902-894-MPEI (6734) or email [email protected].
Since leaving construction and recording Torn Screen Door in 1999, the Scottish-born Canadian performer has been recognized as one Canada's finest singer-songwriters. Francey has released 13 albums to date and has earned three Juno Awards, four Canadian Folk Music Awards, a SOCAN Folk Music Award and three critics’ album of the year awards from the Canadian folk magazine Penguin Eggs.
