Bonshaw Ceilidh welcomes performers Sunday

The monthly ceilidh concert at the Bonshaw Hall will be Sunday, Aug. 26, 7-9 p.m.

All ages are welcome, and the hall is accessible for small wheelchairs.

The special guest for the ceilidh are Celia Koughan (from Neptune Theatre!), singer​ and ​pianist Andrea Corder,​the family duo ​Jolene and Petra Willis and dancers from Havenwood Dance Studio: Lilly and Emily Burnley and Selena Coffin. As well, there will be local musicians Herb MacDonald, Phil Pineau and Tony the Troubador, a 50/50 draw, delicious lunch, and open mic time.

As a member of Neptune Theatre in Halifax, Koughan most recently starred in “The Argyle Street Kitchen Party” and had roles in “Mamma Mia!” and “Stan Rogers: A Matter of Heart”. She also starred in “Anne & Gilbert” and played the role of Anne of Green Gables on Japanese TV.

Corder has been a regular at the Bonshaw ceilidhs over the last two years, performing popular and folk songs. She graduated from the UPEI music program, where she played the role of Susanna in Mozart's “Le Nozzi do Figaro” and performed two independent recitals as part of St. Dunstans Basilica's organ recital series in 2017 and 2018. At the provincial festival, she was the winner of advanced vocal and the prestigious Louise and Mildred Calbeck Music Award. In September, she will be attending the University of Regina in the master of performance program. ​

The McAdam Family Fund is in aid of Kellan McAdam, son of Tommy and Vicky McAdam and brother to Aislyn, who has been recently diagnosed with pre-B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This energetic three-year-old will require ongoing treatment for the next three to four years, both at the QEH, and the IWK, with follow-up appointments until the age of 18.
