CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Dr. Mike West, community care clinician at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, will discuss how pet owners can help their pet’s teeth and gums stay healthy during a special presentation on Thursday, Nov. 21, 7-8:30 p.m., in Lecture Theatre A, Atlantic Veterinary College, UPEI.

Participants will learn how to brush their pet’s teeth, choose healthy teeth treats and recognize the signs of periodontal disease.

Everyone is welcome. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. For information, contact 902-566-0589 or upei.ca/avc.

If a pet has bad breath, it may indicate a more serious health risk of periodontal disease, which is preventable.

Good dental health is just as important for pets as it is for humans but is typically overlooked. By three years of age, 70 to 80 per cent of dogs and cats show signs of dental disease.
