ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Supporters are slowly trickling in at St. John’s South-Mount Pearl Liberal candidate Seamus O’Regan’s headquarters at Glendenning Golf Course.
O’Regan is the incumbent candidate for St. John’s South-Mount Pearl.
Projections have that district leaning in his favour with NDP candidate Anne Marie Anonsen not far behind.
Electoral projections website 338Canada.com projects the district will go red at 41.6 per cent of the popular vote plus or minus 8.4 per cent, with Anonsen tailing O’Regan at 33.4 per cent of the popular vote plus or minus 8.2 per cent.

Other candidates in the district include Terry Martin (Conservative), Alexandra Hayward (Green), Benjamin Ruckpaul (People’s Party) and David Jones (Christian Heritage).
The district includes the south end of St. John's, all of Mount Pearl and Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove.
Voters in this district have elected a range of candidates since the riding was created in 2003; going from Conservative Loyola Hearn in 2004 to Liberal Siobhan Coady in 2008, then New Democratic Ryan Cleary in 2011 before returning Liberal with O’Regan in 2015.
Prior to getting elected in the district in 2015, O’Regan was perhaps best known for his 10 years as co-host of CTV’s Canada AM. In 2017, he was appointed to Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence. In 2019, he became Minister of Indigenous Services.
Anonsen has served on the executive of the provincial NDP, as town councillor for Pouch Cove as well as on a number of councils such as the St. John’s Status of Women Council and the Craft Council.
