The Town of Stratford’s Winter “Fam Fest” is back in 2019 encouraging residents to get out in the community on the Islander Day long weekend.

The long weekend fair includes activates for winter enthusiasts of all ages. This exciting and fun-filled weekend fair is Stratford’s version of winter carnival, featuring a variety of family-friendly activities. The events begin Friday evening with a Family Fun Evening at the Stratford Youth Centre. This event is free and open to everyone in our community. It will include arts and crafts, coloring, Lego and Play-Doh stations and even hot chocolate and cookies.

Saturday gets underway with the Stratford & Area Lions Club Pancake Breakfast and the official kick-off to Fam Fest. Also on Saturday is a Build-a-Birdfeeder event, a free skate at the Pownal Sports Centre, a Community Bingo Night and Family Movie Night. Saturday afternoon, there will be free wagon rides and a petting zoo at Great Northern Adventures.

Stratford’s Fam Fest Fun Fair is 1-5 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday (Islander Day) at Stratford Town Centre. This two-day event is sure to be a family highlight again this year with activities including inflatables, mini golf, face-painting, balloon-twisting, Squiggle Brush Craft Room and visits from costume characters on both days. On Sunday attendees can take in Music Man Michael Pendergast’s performance, the Mr. Magic Show and play bubble soccer. Monday’s activities include a Bunny Trails Pet Ranch and Nerf Wars.

All events taking place in the Family Lounge are free on Sunday and Monday. Families can purchase a bracelet or individual tickets, with proceeds going to the Stratford Youth Centre for the Par-T-Perfect Fun Zone and other select activities. There will also be a canteen on site both days and attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles which can be refilled onsite.

On Friday and Saturday, a Family Karma Yoga class will be offered at Now n Zen Wellness in support of the Stratford Youth Centre, a Kids Exercise Class at 3rd Degree Training on Saturday which is collecting donations to the food bank and a Physiotherapy Q&A on Monday at Stratford Reactive Health.
