The Provincial Credit Union Camp Gencheff fundraising golf tournament will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, at Fox Meadow in Stratford.
Funds raised will go to the camp located in Bellevue Cove that is for people, including children and adults, with disabilities. Camp Gencheff runs all summer with respite camps in the off season and is open most of the year.
Organizers are looking for up to 36 teams to compete. The tourney begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Jennifer Lawton, chairwoman of the board of directors for Camp Gencheff, says the camp enjoyed another busy, successful summer.
“We can’t give enough thanks to Provincial Credit Union for all of the support they have given us over the years,” she says. “They have helped us raise over $304,000 for the camp. The whole staff has been involved helping with a spring clean-up on the site to get things ready for the summer season and they also have a staff payroll deduction plan for Camp Gencheff. We’ve even had some board members who are employed at the Credit Union.”
Doug Geldert is branch manager at Provincial Credit Union, which is the title sponsor for the ninth year. He says there are many other sponsors who are supporting the event.
“We are pleased to be involved again this year for this very worthy event.” says Geldert. “We would like to thank sponsors like Cavendish Farms that will be serving up french fries and Consolidated Credit Union in Summerside that will serve up breakfast sandwiches to all of the golfers on the first hole.”
There’s something new for this year’s event. One golfer will have a chance to win $1 million dollars in the Hole-In-One contest, sponsored by Hillside Motors. Tickets will be sold on the day of the golf tournament, and a draw will be held with the holder of the winning ticket getting a shot at the million-dollar prize. The winner will take the shot in a tee area on the 18th fairway. Spectators will be able to watch the attempt from the Fox Meadow clubhouse.
To register a team, contacting Provincial Credit Union at 281 University Ave., Charlottetown or Camp Gencheff manager Nicole Ward at 902-569-2669 or by email at email@example.com The cost for a team of four is $800.
