This year’s edition of ShiftChange, Atlantic Canada’s only performing arts festival-focused conference, is shaping up to be a standout.
Hosted by the Atlantic Presenters Association (APA), ShiftChange equips festival presenters with tools and innovative ideas to make their festivals stronger and more sustainable, creating amazing opportunities to discover what is new and trending from leading experts, share ideas and collaborate with colleagues, and connect with festival service providers.
Last year’s event saw record-breaking attendance, a plethora of expert speakers, and multiple in-depth workshops, and things are only looking up for 2019.
The three-day event will take place on Feb. 21-23 at the Atlantica Hotel in Halifax.
Speakers include: Mike Morrison, Mike's Bloggity Blog; Janet Sellery, Sellery Healthy + Safety; Cindy Wagman, The Good Partnership and David Ciano, Spektrix. These industry experts will lead workshops with topics ranging from fundraising initiatives to website design.
ShiftChange not only provides industry expertise but also educational information and networking opportunities for conference attendees. Troy Greencorn, the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, is a two-time participant who is excited to return again this February.
“I’m grateful to Atlantic Presenters Association for organizing this event each year. There aren’t many opportunities for festival-presenters to gather for professional development and networking with fellow industry professionals.”
The event is about quality rather than quantity.
“The speakers are real leaders in their disciplines. I’ve learned lots and it’s helping to create a better, more sustainable festival. I can’t wait to see what’s in store at this year’s conference. Super excited about the ticketing summit. Amazing opportunity to have a group of providers together to pitch their products and services.”
