The second animal to be profiled in the 2018 edition of the 12 Strays of Christmas is Jersey, a wiggly nine-month-old tan retriever lab mix.

She has the typical energy of a puppy and likes long walks and fetch. Jersey has previously lived with cats and children.

Adoption tip #2: When adopting, remember that you are committing to care for that animal for the rest of her life, which could be for up to 15 years for dogs and up to 20 years for cats. As things change in life, the birth of children and new jobs, your animal will remain a permanent part of your life. If circumstances change, will you still be able to care for your pet emotional and financially?

The 12 Strays of Christmas is a joint project between The Guardian and the P.E.I. Humane Society. For more information, contact the P.E.I. Humane Society at www.peihumanesociety.com or 902-892-1190.
