- The Toronto Stock Exchange's TSX falls 0.70 percent to 17,442.52
- Leading the index were OceanaGold Corp , up 3.4%, Saputo Inc , up 3.3%, and Metro Inc , higher by 2.9%.
- Lagging shares were Teck Resources Ltd , down 7.4%, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd, down 7.4%, and Aphria Inc, lower by 7.4%.
- On the TSX 64 issues rose and 165 fell as a 0.4-to-1 ratio favored decliners. There were 18 new highs and 5 new lows, with total volume of 203.2 million shares.
- The most heavily traded shares by volume were Bombardier Inc , Baytex Energy Corp and Crescent Point Energy Corp.
- The TSX's energy group fell 3.58 points, or 2.6%, while the financials sector slipped 1.78 points, or 0.5%.
- West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 2.42%, or $1.31, to $52.88 a barrel. Brent crude fell 2.74% , or $1.66, to $59.03 [O/R]
- The TSX is up 2.2% for the year.
