A new pizza shop is coming to the town of Pictou.

A1 Pizza is opening their third location at 91 Water Street. The family owned business is headed by husband and wife Sammy and Bernadette Haydar.

Using family recipes of over 30 years, their menu will include pizza featuring their signature sauce, wraps, fresh rotisserie donairs, oven baked subs, platters and a number of gluten free products. The company currently has locations in Liverpool and Port Hawkesbury.

People will be able to dine in, take out or order delivery, with free delivery for any order in Pictou over $15.

They will also be serving alcoholic beverages. Once they get their liquor license and a couple final tune ups, they will be opening for business. People can check out their Facebook page for their opening date.

Sammy Haydar says he and his family work hard and use fresh ingredients, making an experience that people want to return to.

“I think people are going to like the food here,” says Haydar.

Haydar says the decision to open a new location came when they had to temporarily step back from their Port Hawkesbury location. When they were ready to return he saw his sister and nephew, who had stepped in were happy and doing a great job.

This set their sights on opening a new project.

“I find Pictou County similar to Port Hawkesbury,” he says. “I like people. In small towns everybody gets to know you and you get to know everybody.”

The Pictou location is also closer to Dalhousie University where two of his children attend, making it easier to visit them.
