GLACE BAY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Regional Municipality will partner with Glace Bay’s TALO Cafebar to provide food and beverage services for the Glace Bay Miners Forum.

TALO was the successful bidder in the 2019 competitive procurement process. Under the terms of the five-year agreement, TALO will manage the forum’s food and beverage program, including the canteen, community room and restaurant and lounge. The Forum reopened in October and its canteen opened on Nov. 1. The restaurant and lounge and community room will open in early 2021. Plans include a sports bar atmosphere and pub menu offering and catering for weddings, reunions, and special events.

“We are pleased to partner with TALO to deliver an amazing food and beverage experience for patrons of the newly renovated Miners Forum," said CBRM mayor Amanda McDougall in a press release. "This partnership also creates an opportunity for a successful local company to expand their business."

TALO Cafebar opened in downtown Glace Bay in February 2015. The two locations are expected to employ up to 30 when fully operational, with managers Craig MacDonald, Rita Murphy, Derick Morrison and Colin Appleton partnering with TALO co-owner Angela Houston as part-owners at the Forum.

“The Glace Bay Miners Forum is one of the most storied facilities in our community and we are honoured to partner with CBRM for the re-opening of this home for Glace Bay Minor Hockey and so many other groups,” said Houston in a press release. “Our goal is to deliver an outstanding experience that makes the forum the place to be for sports and other special events. The TALO team is grateful for the opportunity to grow our business here at home.”

Community room booking inquiries can be sent to [email protected] or call 902-578-5775.
