The province is recruiting qualified and motivated people to serve on a new board of directors for Tourism P.E.I.
Tourism Minister Chris Palmer said the new board will give Islanders a greater say in the strategic direction of Tourism P.E.I., strengthen ties with the industry and help maintain the momentum the province has experienced over the last five years.
“This was a key recommendation during consultations with industry in 2017, following the release of the Vision 2021 tourism strategy,’’ Palmer said.
Last fall, the legislature approved changes to the Tourism P.E.I. Act to allow for the creation of a new board of directors.
"It is essential that industry and government work together to shape the future direction of tourism on Prince Edward Island," said Matthew Jelley, resort municipality mayor and governance committee member. "Tourism operators and member associations can bring unique perspectives and new ideas to the table that can only come from people fully invested in the tourism industry."

Applications will be accepted until March 8.
The industry employs more than 7,700 full-time equivalent workers and contributes more than $450 million to the provincial economy every year.
