MONTAGUE — After only opening its doors in November last year, Copper Bottom Brewing has already as of May 1 started selling canned product in its taproom with three liquor stores following soon after.
All three of Copper Bottom Brewing’s flagship releases launched recently at three liquor stores, including Montague, Oak Tree in Charlottetown and West Royalty, with plans for further expansion later this year.
Before opening, the brewery purchased a canning system from Tatamagouche Brewing in Nova Scotia, which sat idle until two weeks ago.
“We wanted to ensure that we ironed out any kinks in productions before canning our product.” says Ken Spears, co-owner and brewer at Copper Bottom. “We’ve been canning for a couple of weeks now, getting systems in place and building some inventory in preparation for the launch of our beer in liquor stores.”
The young company is currently distributing kegs to more than a dozen restaurants and bars across the province and has also earned itself some silverware: Broadside APA placed first in the Pale Ale Category at the Down East Brewing Awards in Fredericton.
