Chambers of commerce on P.E.I. have launched a provincewide shop local campaign.

The new campaign aims to bring attention to the importance of shopping and buying local while showcasing Island products and services, as well as the entrepreneurs behind them. The campaign launched Friday, Nov. 27 and runs through March 2021.

“Many Island businesses have been hit hard by the pandemic, and despite this, they have shown resilience and adapted to serve customers safely,” said Penny Walsh-McGuire, CEO of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. “With the holiday season upon us, we’re asking Islanders to support local businesses because where you buy matters. When you choose to buy local, more of your money is staying right here in our community.”

The Love Local, P.E.I. campaign notes that every $100 spent locally creates $45 in economic value here in P.E.I.

The Love Local, P.E.I. campaign is a partnership between the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce, the West Prince Chamber of Commerce, the Kensington and Area Chamber of Commerce, the Eastern P.E.I. Chamber of Commerce, and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce.

Love Local, PEI

Prince Edward Island chambers of commerce have partnered to bring Love Local, PEI Island-wide! Small businesses on Prince Edward Island employ more Islanders than any other business by creating jobs for your family, friends, neighbours and fellow Islanders. Whether it’s a retail store, restaurant, artisan, bakeshop, or a neighborhood grocery store, small businesses contribute to our Island economy. When you buy and support local, more of your money stays on PEI and is reinvested back into your community. Small businesses help our communities grow. Small businesses have been there for you; they have supported your nephew's soccer team, your daughter's fundraiser and your local school breakfast program. Now, it's time for you to be there for them.
