CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Four entrepreneurs recently received micro-grants from the P.E.I. Business Women’s Association.

The recipients are Harmonie Richard (Paraska's Place), Sabine Schoenknecht (Atlantic Mustard Mill), Britannia Willes (Unpacked) and Helena Wood (Mosaic Management).

The women were awarded their micro-grants by Lt.-Gov. Antoinette Perry during a reception earlier this month.

The grants are designed to help new, growing, and established women entrepreneurs through a non-repayable grant and business skills support. The grant provides successful applicants with an investment of up to $500.

“This year’s Micro Grant applications saw an impressive number of applicants from across a wide range of industries,” said PEIBWA executive director Margaret Magner.

“While the grant is a small investment, it can often provide recipients with a helpful boost to get them over a business hurdle. We are pleased to support the four chosen recipients and look forward to watching them grow their Island businesses,”

Richard’s business, Paraska's Place, sells crystal earrings in over 20 shops across P.E.I., Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, as well as on Etsy.

At Atlantic Mustard Mill, a gourmet food manufacturer, Schoenknecht creates gourmet mustard and mustard related products.

Willes’ store, Unpacked, is the Island’s first package-free shop, providing the everyday consumer with a sustainable, plastic-free way to shop.

Mosaic Management is an event-management service run by Wood for individuals and businesses looking to host small- to medium-sized events.

The micro-grants are open for application to PEIBWA members in good standing who are residents of P.E.I.

Recipients are chosen by a selection committee comprised of individuals selected for their industry experience and knowledge.
