P.E.I.’s Sean Fitzpatrick has come a long way since launching his watch and accessories business 6 Zero in January 2018.

On July 4, Fitzpatrick and East Coast Lifestyles began selling their second collaborative project – the Boat Flag watch – on both companies’ websites.

“It’s different. It’s a colourful face on this one,” said Fitzpatrick, who is originally from Souris but now lives in Halifax.

Fitzpatrick met East Coast Lifestyle’s founder and CEO Alex MacLean last year at a venue in Halifax. They struck up a conversation and MacLean discussed how he was interested in launching more accessories, including watches.

They launched their first collaborative watch in November – the black and gold East Coast Model watch.

The watches sold out fairly quickly, especially on East Coast Lifestyle’s website.

After that collaboration, the two entrepreneurs started discussing another collaboration for the summer.

MacLean suggested the Boat Flag watch and sent Fitzpatrick the logo with a mix of nautical colours – blues, reds, whites and yellows – that also appears on East Coast Lifestyle clothing line.

The watch’s design was completed around February followed by three months of production, Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick received the finished products in June to be sold in July.

They made 250 watches priced at $79 each.

East Coast Lifestyle kept 150 watches to sell on its website and 6 Zero kept the remaining 100 watches for sale.

As with the last collaboration, MacLean sold out fairly quickly.

As of Thursday, Fitzpatrick still had some watches available for sale on his website (https://6zero.shop/).

Fitzpatrick graduated from Souris Regional High School in 2014. He initially attended UPEI but transferred to Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, and recently graduated with a bachelor of commerce degree.

The chance meeting with MacLean and the collaborations with East Coast Lifestyle has helped his business, and sales, grow.

“It just helped propel me a bit forward, and it’s making sales a lot easier now that my brand more recognized,” he said. “It’s been awesome.”
Fitzpatrick said he’s already in discussions with MacLean for another collaboration in the fall.
