A spokesperson for Loblaw says the company’s announcement Wednesday of 22 store closures isn’t expected to have “much impact” in Prince Edward Island.
The grocery and pharmacy giant finalized a plan that will result in the closure of 22 unprofitable stores across a range of its banners and formats. The store closures are expected to be mostly complete by the end of the first quarter next year.

Mark Boudreau, director of corporate affairs for Loblaw Atlantic, would not comment on specific locations that would be closing, but said “the list includes standard food and drug stores, as well as some specialty stores with as few as 10 employees.”
Loblaw owns several locations, including Atlantic Superstore, Your Independent Grocer, No Frills and Shoppers Drug Mart.
