The Morris Automotive Group is expanding its existing operations in Charlottetown.

The group acquired the Reliable Motors building behind the Charlottetown Subaru and Hyundai car dealerships January 2017.

Darren Noonan, general manager at Experience Hyundai, said they looked at many options like demolishing the building, but ultimately decided to repurpose it to expand their used car operations.

With the used car market fairly steady on Prince Edward Island, Noonan hopes to increase the dealership’s stock of used cars.

“Typically, we carry up to 125 used cars in stock,” he said. “We hope to get that up to between 150 and 175.”

Noonan said the lot will be a second lot for Auto Wholesalers, which currently has one location behind Discover Kia on North River Road.

On top of repurposing the building, Noonan said there will be an automated car wash and a vehicle detailing operation.
