CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown tourism officer Laurel Lea has been nominated for a prestigious Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) Prestige Award.
Lea has been named as a finalist in the CSTA Sport Tourism Rising Star of the Year Award for her work in Charlottetown with the Score brand.
Score is the group that markets the city as a prime destination for national and international sporting events.
The finalists in seven different categories range from Vancouver in B.C. to Charlottetown in P.E.I. and almost every province in between.
The Prestige Awards, now in their 13th year, have honoured exceptional events, people and organizations throughout that time.
Olympian Alexandre Despatie will host the awards presentation on Wednesday, March 20 during the annual Sport Events Congress in Ottawa.
In the rising star category, Lea is a finalist along with Andreanne Paquet, manager of Sports Market for Tourisme Montreal in Montreal, Que.; and Harvey Hubball, business development with sport and events for Tourism Kelowna in Kelowna, B.C.
