The West Royalty Rockets Junior Ladies Softball Team got their inaugural season started on a winning note. They hosted the Subway Sluggers, Sunday evening at Central Field. Both teams showed a little rust in their season openers, which proved to be an entertaining affair. The game, played under a steady mist, was tied heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Rockets were able to push across the winning run with two out and outlast the Subway team, 12-11 in the slugfest.

Three West Royalty pitchers, Brooke Sanderson, Rachel Creamer, and Kelsey Huizing, combined for the win. Pitchers McLeod and Keen took the mound in a losing cause for the Sluggers. Top batters for the Rockets were Deana Joka and Rebecca Gallant, both 2 for 3 at the plate. Names for the Subway Sluggers top batters were not available. West Royalty's next game is Monday evening versus Island Impact at City Diamond. Game time is 8:10 PM.
