SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals head back out on the road Saturday.
The Capitals will play the second of four straight road games against the Woodstock Slammers at 7:30 p.m. The Caps started this stretch with a 3-2 loss in Miramichi on Wednesday evening.
It’s an important early-season clash between the two Eastlink North Division teams in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League). The Slammers took a 3-5-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) record into Friday’s game against the St. Stephen Aces (6-6-0-0), and are just two points back of the Caps (5-6-1-0).
It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams. The Caps pulled out a 3-2 win in their home opener against Woodstock on Sept. 30.

Top scorers
Capitals forward TJ Shea leads the MHL in scoring with 20 points – 10 goals and 10 assists – in 12 games.
Caps defenceman Jordan Spence is second in rookie scoring with 12 assists in 12 games. He is one point back of the Edmundston Blizzard’s Liam Leonard, who has 13 points (6-7) in 12 contests.
The Caps have lost four of their last five games after winning four straight. After Saturday’s game, things don’t get any easier for the Caps who visit the Edmundston Blizzard (9-2-0-0) for back-to-back games next weekend, before returning home to face the Yarmouth Mariners (9-2-0-0) at Eastlink Arena on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m.
