FREDERICTON, N.B. – The UNB Red Blazers swept a weekend series against the Holland College Hurricanes behind tough defence and strong goaltending.
On Sunday, UNB won 2-1 after shutting out the ‘Canes 3-0 on Saturday in Eastern Canadian Women’s Hockey League action. Annika Mason had the Holland College goal.
UNB goalie Kayleigh Robertson picked up her third straight shutout on Saturday while Mackenzie Koughan suffered the loss.
On Sunday, Kate Northup earned the victory while Kara Mason was tagged with the loss.
Leah LeBlanc (2), Corey O’Brien, Victoria Peterson and Jenna Barrett scored for UNB over the two games.
UNB improved to a league-leading 6-0, while Holland College fell to 3-3.
Next up, the ‘Canes host UNB for games Saturday, Dec. 2, at Eastlink Centre and Sunday, Dec. 3, at Credit Union Place in Summerside. Start times are 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively.
