ANTIGONISH, N.S. – A photo finish was required to determine a winner in the Parts for Trucks Maritime Pro Stock Tour event at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night.
Shawn Turple of Enfield, N.S., edged out Cole Butcher of Porter’s Lake, N.S., by just 0.002 seconds to win the Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 150 after the two had swapped the lead three times in the final 107 laps.
Craig Slaunwhite of Terrence Bay, N.S., overtook John Flemming of Halifax, N.S., to post his third consecutive third-place finish of the season. Dylan Gosbee of Cornwall had a solid run to round out the top five.
Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown was sixth, Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell was seventh, Robbie MacEwen of Charlottetown was ninth, Terry Dougay of Albany finished 11th, Greg Proude of Springvale finished 15th, Kent Vincent of Crapaud came 17th and Allison McKinnon of Oyster Bed Bridge rounded out the P.E.I. drivers in 25th.
Hicken, Turple, Butcher and Dylan Blenkhorn of Truro, N.S., all won qualifying races. Turple also led for the most laps – 66 – in a long race that featured six cautions and three red flags.
The tour returns to Scotia Speedworld for the Nova Truck Centres Make A Wish 150 on Saturday, June 23. The action begins at 6 p.m.
