SYDNEY, N.S. – Duke Mondy scored 10 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Cape Breton Highlanders to a 117-115 victory over the Island Storm Friday in National Basketball League of Canada play in Sydney, N.S.

Bruce Massey had 26 and Kevin Loiselle 24 for the Highlanders.

Du’Vaughn Maxwell had a game-high 35 points to lead the Storm while Chris Johnson had 25 points and Franklin Session chipped in 23. Session also had 11 rebounds and six assists while Kemy Osse had 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The Storm led 21-18 after the first quarter, but trailed 48-45 at the half and 79-76 heading to the fourth.

The Storm turned the ball over 17 times compared to the Highlanders seven. The Storm hit 92 per cent (36-for-39) of its free throws.

Cape Breton improved to 6-10 while the Storm is 8-7. The Storm plays in Halifax Saturday at 7 p.m. before hosting the Saint John Riptide Sunday at 2 p.m.
