Myers scores OT winner as Hurricanes win ACAA title

Charlottetown native Darby Myers scored in three minutes into overtime Sunday to give the Holland College Hurricanes an Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) championship.

Myers’ sister Lauren Myers had the assist on the only goal of the game as the Hurricanes defeated the host Mount Saint Vincent Mystics 1-0 in Halifax.

Nicole McInnis stopped nine shots for the shutout while Abbey MacLeod made three saves for the Mystics.

It is the Hurricanes first conference title since 2013-14. They lost in the final in 2011-12, 2012-13, 2014-15 and 2015-16.

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championships will take place in Montreal beginning Nov. 9.
