The P.E.I. F.C. under-17 dropped a pair of games this weekend to the Halifax Whitecaps in Nova Scotia Soccer League action.
Jabu Deng and Luke Berryman found the back of the net for Halifax in the first half on Saturday to take a 2-0 led into the half.
Reid Peardon scored for P.E.I. in the second half but it wasn’t enough as Halifax took the game 2-1.
On Sunday, Elias Bitar had things looking good for P.E.I. as he scored to give the Island side a 1-0 lead going into the half.
However, the second half was all Halifax.
Noah Comeau-Shantz tied it up, followed by a hat trick from Kyle Routledge as Halifax won 4-1.
In under-15 boys’ play, Saturday saw the P.E.I. squad in action at the UPEI turf against Halifax County, where the Island boys won 2-1. Both P.E.I. F.C. goals were in the first half from Nicolas Da Costa and Riad Jaha. Halifax’s Nick Veinot got a tough one by PEIFC keeper Luke Clark with 10 minutes left in the second half.
Sunday, the F.C. team played Halifax County again at UPEI. Sam Akinsola (P.E.I. F.C.) got two quick goals at seven and nine minutes into the first half, Luke Clark got a shutout in the first half. The second half had Nolan Barry between the pipes and having to make some key saves. P.E.I. F.C.’s Julien Jones got the third goal of the game just before the final whistle giving the P.E.I. squad a 3-0 defeat over Halifax County.
In under-15 girls play, P.E.I. split a pair of games with Halifax County.
On Saturday, Halifax topped P.E.I. 2-1. Keanna Ryan scored for the Island side.
On Sunday, P.E.I. turned the tables on Halifax, winning by the same 2-1 score. Emma Langley and Elly Dobson had the P.E.I. goals.
