CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Basketball players Kiera Rigby and Amin Suleman are this week’s UPEI Panther Subway athletes of the week.
Rigby is a fifth-year forward and an honours science student from Charlottetown scored 26 points on 47 per cent shooting from the field in Friday’s 68-64 win over Saint Mary’s.
“She went 66 per cent from the three-point line and was 8-for-12 from the free-throw line,” said coach Greg Gould. “Kiera also had three rebounds and a blocked shot.”
Rigby followed it up by scoring 21 and collecting three rebounds in Saturday’s 76-56 loss to the Huskies.
Suleman is a third-year guard and an arts student from Toronto.
Suleman was a standout for the Panthers in a pair of losses (86-68 and 84-67) to the Huskies.
“Amin had a very strong weekend against the Huskies,” said coach Darrell Glenn. “He combined for 20 rebounds, shot an impressive 50 per cent from the field, scored 24 points, and played 60 minutes.”
