ABRAM-VILLAGE – Jason Gallant and Chasse Gallant each recorded six points in a pair of weekend wins as the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings extended their first-place lead atop the Island Junior Hockey League standings.

In other action, Garrett Murray held the hot hand in sparking the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers to a 4-2 win over the Eastern Maniacs.
The Red Wings picked up a 5-2 win over the Cap-Pelé Predators in an interlocking game with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League on Friday night, and defeated the second-place Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros 4-2 on Sunday night to open up a five-point lead, with three games in hand.
Western’s record is 19-8-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), and the Metros are 17-14-1.

Vipers 4 Maniacs 2
At Credit Union Centre in Kensington, previously Community Gardens, Murray had a goal and two assists while Parker Ronahan (1-1), Riley Gallant (1-1) and Jacob Stewart lit the lamp for the Vipers (13-15-4). Jesse Jay (2), CJ McCardle and Spencer Sherren assisted.
Blake Jamieson (1-1) and Alex Gallant answered for the Maniacs (6-21-1). Hunter McIntyre (2) and Curtis McGregor set up the goals.
The Vipers held period leads of 2-1 and 3-2.
Overall, the Maniacs held a slim 43-42 shots-on-goal advantage. Winning goaltender was Rett Rook, and Cam Duffy was between the pipes for the Souris-based Maniacs.

Red Wings 4 Metros 2
At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Chasse Gallant netted a hat trick and Jason Gallant had a goal and three helpers to account for the Red Wings’ scoring. Assists went to Alex Morrissey (2), Spencer Groom and Dawson McCormack.
Pat McGuigan and Taylor Runighan replied for the Metros, who received assists from Cale Pierce (2), Tanner Lund and Jordan Birt.
Sherwood-Parkdale led 1-0 after the first period, but the Red Wings bounced back to take a 3-1 advantage into the second intermission.
Winning goaltender Luke Oliver made 35 saves on 37 shots. Metros goaltender Alex Kelly allowed four goals on 36 shots.

Red Wings 5 Predators 2
At the Cap-Pelé Arena, Jason Gallant (2), Morrissey (2) and Abel Arsenault scored for Western, which led 2-1 after 20 minutes and 3-2 at the end of two. Chasse Gallant and Calvin McRae each added three helpers while Dillon Wall had one assist.
Marc Doiron (1-1) and Jonathan Vautour answered for the Predators.
Oliver made 27 saves in earning the goaltending win. Justin Mitton faced 42 shots in the Cap-Pelé goal.
