MONCTON, N.B. - The P.E.I. Eagles are alone atop the standings after Day 1 of the Eastern Canadian women’s softball championship in Moncton.
The under-19 Island squad defeated Nova Scotia Two 5-1 Friday night to improve to 3-0.
Emily Reynolds recorded the victory while Robyn Power was 3-for-4 with a run to pace the offence.
Brooke Bernard was 2-for-3 with a run score while Emily Cairns was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run.
P.E.I. plays Ontario (2-0) Saturday at noon.
The Eagles are hosting the under-19 Eastern Canadians next weekend in Charlottetown.
