HALIFAX, N.S. – The UPEI Panthers were outscored 18-8 in the second quarter to drop their opening game of the Rod and Joan Shoveller Memorial Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday in Halifax.
The University of Northern British Columbia led 17-15 after the first quarter and 35-23 at the half. The Panthers shrunk the lead to nine, 55-46, heading to the fourth, but couldn’t complete the comeback, losing 76-67.
Samy Mohamed led the Panthers with 17 points off the bench while Milorad Sedlarevic and Dakelle Brook each chipped in 11 and D’Adrian Allen 10.
The Panthers play today at 3 p.m. against the loser of Friday’s late game between Dalhousie and Mount Saint Vincent.
