Panthers lose opener at men's rugby nationals

GUELPH, ONT. – The UPEI Panthers return to action Friday at the Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship in Guelph, Ont.

The Panthers lost their opening game on Thursday 66-0 to the host Gryphons. Guelph scored four tries in the opening 15 minutes to take a 26-0 lead. UBC defeated Concordia 46-0 in the other game of the day.

The Panthers play the Victoria Vikes Friday at 3 p.m. Atlantic while Concordia plays McMaster at 1 p.m. The medal games are Sunday.
