FREDERICTON, N.B. – Leah Galati scored 1:29 into overtime Sunday as the host St. Thomas Tommies defeated the UPEI Panthers 3-2 in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action in Fredericton, N.B.

The goal came on the power play.

The teams traded single goals in the first two periods before a scoreless third sent the game to overtime.

Sydnee Baker and Rachel Colle scored for UPEI with assists to Gabrielle Gray and Faith Steeves.

Olivia Reid and Emily Oleksuk replied for the Tommies.

Taylor Cook made 25 saves in the win while Megan Sullivan stopped 23 shots in the loss.

The Tommies improved to 9-3-2 while the Panthers are 3-6-5, but earned three out of a possible four weekend points. The teams are off on Christmas break now until Jan. 5.
