CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Czar Seelster gets the superior post position in this afternoon's wide-open preferred pace at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

First race post time is 12:30 p.m. for the 16-dash card with a field of nine preferred pacers battling in the afternoon finale for a $2,550 purse. Nogreatmischief rides a two-race win streak into the event as the morning line favorite with Post 7 for trainer-driver Walter Cheverie, who co-owns the son of Bettor’s Delight with the Estate Of John Thompson of Charlottetown. Another member of the Cheverie stable, Heart And Soul, leaves from Post 4 in the same event with Gary Chappell picking up the catch-drive. Nogreatmischief was a winner in preferred pacing action his last two starts but sat out last week, where Rose Run Quest hailed victorious. Rose Run Quest gets Post 8 today for trainer-driver Marc Campbell. Adkins Hanover has been a major obstacle to any horse trying to win the preferred in recent months and has Post 6 this week for driver Corey MacPherson.

Even with the previously mentioned power, race analyst Les MacIsaac will give his support to Post 1 starter Czar Seelster and trainer-driver Todd Weatherbee fresh off a 1:56.3 victory.

“Czar Seelster has got a good late kick and rail control which can be a dangerous combination,” MacIsaac said. “He’s been more than holding his own against the big boys and with a major post advantage over the top contenders he’s worthy of a long look.”

Other starters include Mr Irresistible (Kenny Arsenault), Jeb (Jason Hughes), Forever Paradise (Ken Murphy) and Cartoon Daddy (Dale Spence).

The open mares meet for another $2,250 contest in Race 7 with the competitive group field nine entries. Drivingthedragon N gets the nod from race secretary Gerard Smith as the morning line favourite for trainer-driver Hughes from Post 4. Prettyndangerous knocked off the top group of mares last week but is saddled with Post 7 on Saturday for driver Adam Merner and trainer Bo Ford.

The afternoon’s top trot lines up in Race 6 with Mile Hill Mac riding a two-race win streak into Post 6 for driver Campbell and trainer Paul Morrison. Holy Molie Maggie is the morning line choice with Post 7 for driver Cheverie and Hop Up rounds out the top entries with rail control and MacPherson in the driver’s seat.
