CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Island Storm looks to end a four-game losing streak on home court today when it hosts the Saint John Riptide at 2 p.m.
The Storm lost 114-94 Saturday to the Hurricanes in Halifax after a 117-115 defeat to the Cape Breton Highlanders Friday in Sydney, N.S. The Storm is 8-4 while the Riptide is 8-6.
The Hurricanes held quarter leads of 25-20, 50-42 and 74-69.
Rhamel Brown had 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Hurricanes outscored the Storm 40-25. He also added 12 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal.
Antoine Mason and Billy White each scored 20 points while Tyrone Watson had 17 and Mike Poole 16.
Franklin Session led the Storm with 26 points and nine rebounds while also contributing three assists and three steals. Chris Johnson had 16 points, Tyler Scott 14, Du’Vaughn Maxwell 11 and Torrence Dyck Jr. 10.
Point guard Andre Stringer did not play.
The Hurricanes shot 42 per cent (8-for-19) from three-point range while the Storm was 29 per cent (7-for-24). The Hurricanes also did a better job at the free-throw line 62 per cent (18-for-29) compared to 47 per cent (9-for-19) and won the battles on the boards 60-42.
