The guard from Clayton Park, N.S., had 18 of his game-high 35 points in the last 10 minutes to lead the Panthers to a 86-82 victory over the Cape Breton Capers. Both teams will miss the playoffs this season and will finish the regular season this week.

“It’s been a good three years, playing with these guys,” Scott said. “Obviously (it’s) not the outcome we wanted, but man I love these guys. These guys laid it all on the line all year for me. I won’t forget them.”

Scott went 6-for-12 from the field in the final quarter. It included 2-for-4 from three-point territory, including a banked three for his final field goal on home court. He scored the 35 points in 34 minutes.

“Damn good,” he said of the feeling to end his home career with a victory. “It felt good to get this win, last home game in front of a great crowd.”

It wasn’t easy.

The Panthers fell behind early, trailing 30-22 after the first quarter and 55-45 at the half.

UPEI played better in the second half, cutting the deficit to 63-61 heading to the fourth.

“We just said, ‘Yo, we just have to leave it all on the floor because this is our last game (here),” forward Dut Dut said. “We just can’t come out soft for the home crowd because we know we have a lot of supporters.”

Dut had 15 points and 19 rebounds while Milorad Sedlarevic had 12 points and six rebounds. Lorenzo Parker chipped in nine points, seven rebounds, four steals, two blocks and an assist in his final home game during his five-year Panther career.

Dut became the single season record holder for rebounds by a Panther with 215.

“I didn't come out with a goal like that. I came out to win games, win a championship,” Dut said. “I guess that’s what comes with having bigger goals.”

Scott and Parker embraced after the game. Scott said he’s known Parker longer than any of his teammates from their Nova Scotia provincial team days.

“That’s my guy,” Scott said, referring back to his recovery from ACL surgery following last year’s conference final. “To see what he’s come back from, and see what he’s overcome, that’s inspiration. That guy has a heart of a lion.”
