CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Volleyball players Megan LeBlanc and Tyler Lahaise are this week’s Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.

LeBlanc, a second-year player, led the ‘Canes to back-to-back straight-set wins over the St. Thomas Tommies. On Saturday she recorded 10 kills and six digs before adding 17 kills and four digs on Sunday.

The left side from Fredericton, N.B., who is studying business administration, currently leads the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) in kills, is second in kills per set and fourth in total digs.

The third-place Hurricanes (6-2) return to action this weekend in Halifax against the first-place Mount Saint Vincent Mystics on Saturday and fifth-place University of King’s College Blue Devils on Sunday.

Lahaise, in his first season with the ‘Canes, had a strong weekend as the Hurricanes split a two-game home series with the Tommies.

In Saturday’s five-set loss, Lahaise recorded 12 kills and six digs before adding 11 kills and four digs in Sunday’s four-set win.

The right side from Halifax, who is in the culinary arts program, sits third in the ACAA in hitting percentage with a .244 average.

The Hurricanes (7-1) lead the ACAA standings ahead of this weekend’s road trip to Church Point, N.S., to play the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons.
