Holland College sweeps St. FX, Saint Mary’s in weekend ringette action

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Holland College Hurricanes ringette team swept a pair of ringette games Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.

They defeated the St. FX X-Women 11-0 in the opener and the Saint Mary’s Huskies 7-5 in the second contest.

Paige Blakely (1-3) and Sidney Corrigan (3-0) led the way in the first game while Alysha Corrigan (1-2), Jade Corrigan (2-0), Isabelle Saunders (1-1) and Amy Mol (1-1) also scored. Olivia Gill), Sarah MacIsaac and Michelle MacCabe had two assists while Ayrna Rogers and Jayne Whitehead each chipped in one.

Kate Moss secured the shutout.

Ayrna Rogers led the way in the second game with two goals and two assists while Alysha Corrigan had a goal and two helpers.

Blakely added two goals while Sidney Corrigan and Amy Mol each added one. Bailey Birt and Jory Donovan each contributed an assist while Jessie McCarthy recorded the victory.

The Hurricanes return to action Sunday when they travel to Wolfville, N.S., to take on Acadia Axewomen at 12:45 and 3 p.m.
