BEDEQUE, P.E.I. – Bedeque’s Carsen Campbell and fellow Canadian Sarah Beaudry finished fourth in Norway during the International Biathlon Union (IBU) single mixed relay event.
The Canadians used only five spare rounds to shoot clean and were 13 seconds behind Austria who won the bronze.
“Starting to get on Euro time and get the kinks out,” Campbell said. “(The) highlight of the weekend was our fourth place in the single mixed relay yesterday. Sarah tagged me in third and it was a good fight, but unfortunately (I) couldn't hold off the Austrian.”
Rounding out the podium was Sweden taking silver and France claiming gold.
Earlier in the week, Campbell competed in two 10-kilometre sprint events, finishing 35th of a 128-biathlete field and shooting 90 per cent followed by a 76th-place finish and hitting 60 per cent of his shots.
Up next for Campbell and Team Canada will be IBU Cup 2 and 3 being held in Switzerland (Dec. 5-10) and Austria (Dec. 13-17), respectively.
