SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Good post position can cure a lot of ailments and after a quartet of outer posts Rash B Havior will be able to determine his own fate in the afternoon feature on a special Labour Day Monday card at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The 13-dash card kicks off at 1 p.m. with Rash B Havior leaving off the rail in the Race 12 feature carrying a $2,100 purse. Owned and trained by Mike Peters of Emyvale, Rash B Havior has not drawn inside of five in his last four outings but still managed a pair of wins to give him four on the season with a 2017 mark of 1:56.2. Campbell gets the catch-driving call in the afternoon top class as the seven-year-old son of Lis Mara faces off with five rivals. Old Buck has Post 2 with Gary Chappell getting the call to sit in the bike for trainer Alan MacDonald, as regular pilot Jason Hughes has to drive his own trainee, Post 6 starter Narragansett. Hughes was a winner in 1:57.2 in Old Buck’s latest outing while Post 3 starter D Bs Rosco is also sporting a win in his column from last week.
Walter Cheverie will drive D Bs Rosco for trainer Robbie Shaw. Adam Merner has Post 4 starter Zero Rate while Post 5 is occupied by Ultimatelyhandsome with Corey MacPherson in the bike for trainer Sifroi Melanson.
Race 7 has a newcomer to East Coast racing with Rojans White Jet leaving from Post 9 in the $950 event. The chestnut daughter of The Panderosa is now trained and owned by Clair Sweet of O’Leary after having recently been racing in the claiming ranks in Ontario. Campbell will drive the four-year-old at odds of 8-1.
