Storm drops game to Riptide

Saint John, N.B. – Gabe Freeman scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Saint John Riptide to a 114-103 victory over the Island Storm Tuesday in National Basketball League of Canada play in Saint John, N.B.

Anthony Anderson added 25 points as the Riptide avenged a 103-95 loss to the Storm on Monday to open the regular season.

Tirrell Baines led the Storm with 26 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Leon Gibson had 18 points and 11 boards while Terry Thomas had 22 and eight. Jahii Carson scored 17 while A.J. Stewart hauled in seven rebounds.

The Riptide, before more than 1,500 people at their home-opener, held quarter leads of 32-22, 57-42 and 90-73.

The Storm is back in action Friday in Halifax to play the Hurricane before hosting the Moncton Miracles Saturday at 7 p.m.
