SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Jeremiah Mordo had 21 points to lead the Saint John Riptide over the Island Storm 95-81 in National Basketball League of Canada action at Harbour Station in Saint John on Tuesday night.
Mordi was also four-for-six from the three-point line and was tied for the team lead in rebounds with five. Aly Ahmed also had five rebounds for the Riptide to go along with his 11 points.
Malcolm Miller scored 17 points for Saint John and had seven assists while Horace Wormley and Ahmed chipped in 11 points each. Wormley had 11 assists to go along with his 11 points.
All of Saint John’s starters hit double digits. Mareik Isom had 14 points and four rebounds to round things out.
Kemy Osse led the Storm attack with 28 points. He was also four-for-eight from three-point range and had five assists.
Du’Vaughn Maxwell had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Carl Hall was next with 14 points. Among the starters, Chris Anderson had 11 points and Franklin Session chipped in another four points.
The Riptide controlled most of the game, winning the first quarter 28-22, the second quarter 19-15 and the fourth quarter 28-20. The Storm tried to mount a comeback, winning the third quarter 24-20.
With the win, the Riptide improve to 18-19 while the Storm slipped to 19-18.
