CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Faith Steeves’ power-play goal in the second period was the winner Saturday as the UPEI Panthers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 3-2 for a much-needed two points in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.
Captain Emma Martin had a goal and an assist for the hometown Panthers while Leah Byrne also scored. Lindsay Johnston, Madison Clarke and Sydnee Baker added assists and Megan Sullivan stopped 25 shots for the win.
Keana Oshowy and Lisa MacLean scored for Dalhousie with assists from Autumn Moors, Danika Phillips and Tara Morning. Fabiana Petricca stopped 35 shots in the loss.
UPEI improved to 3-6-4 while Dalhousie is 8-6-0.
The Panthers travel to Fredericton, N.B., Sunday to play the St. Thomas Tommies at 3 p.m.
