CORNWALL, P.E.I. – Zac MacKay’s hat trick was the difference in the Mid-Isle Matrix’s 5-3 win over the Sherwood Drug Mart Central Attack in Prince Edward Island Midget AAA Hockey League action Tuesday in Cornwall.
MacKay scored twice in the first period and added a second-period marker before Braden Donnolly (1-1) and Matthew McAulay cut the lead to 3-2 Matrix.
Zach Wilson then scored 22 seconds after McAulay’s goal and early in the third to provide the cushion Mid-Isle needed for the win.
Kyle Marton’s power-play goal late in the game completed the Attack scorers.
Ben Peters chipped in two assists for Mid-Isle, which went 0-for-4 on the power play.
Matt Jelley earned the win over Matthew Halliwell.
