SUMMERSIDE – The Western Wind and Kings County Kings provided an exciting finish on Thursday night.
The two teams met in the Wind’s home opener at Credit Union Place in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Female Hockey League.
After jumping out to period leads of 1-0 and 3-0, the Kings held on for an exciting 3-2 win after surviving a 6-on-4 advantage for the Wind as the game concluded.
Kelly Clements, Emma Dingwell and Airika Pollard scored for the Kings. Jacy MacMillan and Emma Stewart added assists.
Taylor Gillis (1-1) and Gracyn Handrahan countered for the Wind. Keira MacKendrick, Mya Chisholm and Tianna Gallant were credited with helpers.
Winning goaltender was Abby Sherry, and Darcie Augustine was between the pipes for the Wind.
