SACKVILLE, N.B. - Lindsay Johnston scored a pair of goals in the third period as the UPEI Panthers came from behind to beat Mount Allison in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action on Sunday.

It was UPEI’s (1-2-1) first win of the season.

Heather Richards opened the scoring 30 seconds into the first period for the Mounties and that’s how the period would end.

UPEI tied things up 1-1 at the 14:33 mark of the second period on Madison Clarke’s goal, assisted by Tyler Way and Kaylee Dufresne.

Mount Allison, though, would regain the lead at 19:33 of the second when Abby Beale found the back of the net.

In the third period, Faith Steeves scored on the power play for the Panthers at 5:55. Picking up assists were Ashtyn Bartlett and Maria Clinton.

The sea-saw battle would go back and forth again as the Mounties responded at 10:09 with Beale scoring her second of the game, an unassisted goal.

That’s when Johnston went to work, scoring his first goal at 12:12, from Sophie Vandale, before connecting with her second of the game at 17:32, from Emma Weatherbie and Emma Martin.

UPEI outshot Mount Allison 49-18.

The goaltenders were Camille Scherger for UPEI and Lindsay Wray for Mount Allison.
