Hurricanes baseball team to take on the best at nationals

The Holland College Hurricanes test its baseball mettle when the club faces the best collegiate teams in Canada at the Canadian baseball championships Thursday through Saturday in Oshawa, Ont.

The Durham College Lords host for the second straight year. Holland College finished third last year.

The ‘Canes take on the Ahuntsic College Indiennes from Quebec on Thursday at 7 p.m. AT, then play three times on Friday.

First it’s the defending national champions, the Fanshawe College Falcons of Ontario, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a noon start versus the Humber College Hawks also from Ontario, then the ‘Canes finish the day against Durham College at 6 p.m.

Saturday’s semifinals go at 11 a.m., followed by the championship game at 4 p.m.

This season the Hurricanes finished with a 14-2 regular season record in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association’s Atlantic Conference and finished the regular season as the region’s top-ranked team.
