Holland College's Daria Leidenius burns up the golf course

Holland College golfer Daria Leidenius of the Holland College won both events in women’s division as the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association golf season began on two fronts last weekend in New Brunswick.

Saturday, Leidenius won her first event with an 89 at Mactaquac golf course then improved Sunday with a 79 on the Kingswood links.

Meanwhile on Saturday at Mactaquac, the Hurricanes men’s team of Alex Taylor (72), Jake Ward (76), Jason Poley (76), Guillaume Côté-Généreux (79) and Spencer Compton (85) compiling a total score of 303 and finished second to UNB (296) in the team competition.

On Sunday at Kingswood, UNB posted a blistering 281 while the Hurricanes finished second at 292.

Taylor (69), Ward (71), Poley (71), Côté-Généreux (81) and Josh Gracie (82).

Taylor tied for the tournament win while Ward and Poley tied for four and Travis Gray (73) placed seventh.

Next, the Hurricanes host the ACAA championships this weekend at the Links at Crowbush Cove.

The Hurricanes men have won every ACAA championship since 2006 while the women won in 2007-08, 2010-12 and 2016.
